Objective:
This project combines typographic elements with hands on exploration to create a poster series promoting a poetry event. The event; Elusive echoes: exploring poetic soundscapes focuses on vocal expression. Each poster was created to represent the artists as individuals, while staying cohesive with type play and event information.
Process:
After listening to the featured poets and their vocal expression, I decided to highlight a unique aspect for each individual artist. My main goal was to create movement through typographic exploration and imagery. The final concept I selected creates a metaphor for sound by expressing; Lee’s guttural bursts of sound through bubbles, Smith's edgy, heavy topics through contrast of light and dark, and Ellis’ smooth instrumental beats through swirls and waves in the water.
Type Exploration:
Experimented with various physical materials, then moved to manipulation through digital scans to create desired movement within the type.
